Case study: Blake

Since joining Cornerstone Learning CIC's Early Years sessions, Blake has made wonderful progress with speech and language development. Now pre-verbal, Blake can put together simple sentences and can communicate wants and needs comfortably most of the time, either verbally, using PECS, or by pointing.

My child was non-verbal

"We first heard about Cornerstone through another parent and social media. At the time, my child was non-verbal, did not respond to their name, and found social situations in unfamiliar settings really unsettling. Since joining Cornerstone Learning CIC's sessions, they have made incredible progress. They are now pre-verbal and can put together simple sentences. They can communicate their wants and needs most of the time, either verbally, using PECS, or by pointing. My child now enjoys playing with friends and trusted adults, and we understand their needs better.

Working closely with the setting has helped our child remain regulated. The improvements in my child's communication and understanding of instructions have been remarkable. They now accept and respond to social interactions with peers and trusted adults. The staff at Cornerstone genuinely care about the children's development and you can clearly see the excitement and joy they get when your child achieves one of their goals."

A high adult-to-child ratio

One of the most beneficial aspects of Cornerstone is the smaller group size and higher adult-to-child ratio. This allows the children to interact with their peers and learn important social skills while receiving the support they need from adults. Compared to other educational settings, Cornerstone's smaller size allows for a more individualised focus on each child's needs. The staff are incredibly dedicated, and they truly want to see the children progress.

My child felt safe, had fun and made amazing progress

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cornerstone to other parents. My child felt safe, had fun, and made amazing progress. The fact that they can now communicate with me and feel comfortable in certain social situations is more than I hoped for.

The staff have always been there for me as a parent, offering support and advice when I needed it the most. I am so grateful for the care and kindness they have shown us as a family.
